We went to the airshow today, having no idea what to expect. We pulled onto the base about an hour, before the blue angels were schedule to fly. And then we proceeded to walk for almost an hour to get to the airstrip. At one point early on, we asked how far it was, and were told, "not too far, only about a mile"! And then we kept walking uphill for a long time, like 3 miles. The fields were thick with sandspurs, they coated our shoes and the stroller wheels. And at one point we (meaning Nate) had to drag the stroller down a dirt road. And we were hungry and the PNJ paper said that you couldn't bring food/drinks...and now we know not to listen to the paper, people were walking by us with subway sandwiches and coolers! We did finally make it to the airstrip, I sat down with the kids, and Nate went to stand in line for 30 minutes to get two corndogs and some lemonade (and I don't eat corndogs, or hotdogs for that matter!). Later we found all the other food booths, oh well! Anyway, we did get to see the blue angels fly we made it just in time. The boys and I watched it while Nate watched from the food line. We had picked up some ear plugs on the way in, but they wouldn't stay in the boys' ears! So Asa Jack cried every time the planes got close and Kaden didn't really seem to enjoy that part either. After the show, we walked around and Kaden got to go on one of the hurricane planes. We even found him a little blue angel plane toy. Even after all the hassle, it was fun, the show was really neat, and I bet we go back next year!
You can really tell in this picture how much Asa was enjoying himself!
